Doctor Han had had experience of using alternative reactors in the past. With these the vessels could not be changed, therefore when she needed different vessel sizes she would have needed to change the whole reactor system. Some reactors only supported a maximum volume of 2 L. These did not meet the lab requirements, and could prove expensive to purchase multiple reactor set ups.
In CAS Key Laboratory of Molecular Nanostructure and Nanotechnology they were looking to achieve a safer laboratory environment for their chemists, where it is easy to change to different volume vessels, and to provide safer laboratory environment for the student chemists.
