Oversee warehouse operations

Radleys is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role combines hands-on capability with team leadership responsibility. You will be expected to perform the full range of manual and admin tasks associated with this role, whilst acting as team leader. This role is based at our premises in Saffron Walden, Essex.

The Role

You will supervise daily our warehouse operations, leading by example to ensure daily priorities are completed accurately and on time. You will organise and prioritise workload to ensure the team support the relevant departments with the service they require, allocating tasks across goods-in, picking, packing, dispatch, and all other activities. You will ensure warehouse workflows are followed and stock disciplines are enforced, whilst maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.

The duties include receiving incoming deliveries including unloading, checking and booking in, ensuring delivery documentation is accurate, and discrepancies are identified and reported, stock is labelled correctly and put away in the correct location. Attention to detail is require to ensure the picking of work orders is in line with production priorities, alongside picking and packing sales orders, ensuring they are labelled correctly and dispatched to the required service levels. The correct packaging standards need to be followed, and goods to be protected in transit.

You will need to consider stock control and inventory accuracy, maintaining records through regular cycle counting and stock checks. You will investigate and resolve stock discrepancies in a structured way, supporting periodic full stock counts as required, identifying and implementing improvements to reduce stock loss, mis-picks and inventory errors. You will support incoming inspection processes for selected products and materials, ensuring inspection holds/quarantine procedures are followed when needed and rejected goods are clearly identified and segregated.

Within our business systems you will ensure stock movements are recorded correctly in the warehouse system/ERP, maintaining accurate documentation for goods-in, dispatch, and stock processes. You will support continuous improvement in warehouse reporting and accuracy. You will champion health and safety compliance, ensuring all warehouse activities comply with risk assessments, and give toolbox talks to promote safe manual handling practices and correct use of equipment. Alongside this, you will report and follow up on near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions.

Experience and capability

It is essential you have proven experience in a warehouse supervisory role or be a senior warehouse operative ready to step up. You will have knowledge of goods-in, picking, packing, dispatch and inventory control and experience of maintaining stock accuracy through cycle counting and investigation. We are looking for someone confident in supervising a small team and managing daily priorities.

You will need basic IT skills to work on our Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) / ERP and in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook). Candidates must have strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple departments. It would be great if you have experience supporting incoming goods inspection or working alongside Quality teams, and/or implementing warehouse improvements.

You are practical, organised, and calm under pressure, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. The ideal candidate will be reliable and consistent, with a natural ability of solving problems and considering continuous improvement.

You would ideally hold a UK driving license but it is essential you are able to work effectively in business English. As the role is based full-time at our premises in Saffron Walden, you will live within a commutable distance.
