Build the systems behind precision manufacturing

Radleys designs and manufactures chemistry productivity tools used by leading pharmaceutical, biopharma and chemical research organisations worldwide. Our equipment enables safer, cleaner and more efficient research.

We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to strengthen and develop our Production Engineering capability. This is a hands on role with genuine ownership. You will design and implement practical engineering solutions that improve efficiency, safeguard quality and support the controlled introduction of new products into manufacture.

If you are organised, technically rigorous and motivated by improving how things work, this role offers real scope to make a measurable impact.

Our Company

Radleys was founded in 1966 by Bill Radley as a scientific glassblowing business. Nearly 60 years on, we remain a proud British manufacturer, still focused on what we do best, high quality scientific equipment for chemistry.

We design and build precision laboratory systems in house, bringing together chemists, glassblowers and engineers with decades of practical experience. Our equipment is trusted by leading pharmaceutical, biopharma, chemical and academic organisations worldwide, a reputation earned through consistent quality, technical depth and long term thinking.

We intend to build on that foundation. To do so, we need capable, detail focused people who take pride in their work and want to contribute to a business that values quality, expertise and continuous improvement.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, you will play a central role in strengthening our production capability.

This is a hands on engineering position. You will work across manufacturing, supply chain and R&D to resolve practical challenges, refine processes and ensure new products are introduced into production in a structured and efficient manner.

The role includes the design and implementation of jigs, fixtures and tooling, development of CAD models and manufacturing drawings, and the delivery of structured continuous improvement initiatives. You will also support equipment reliability, preventative maintenance and day to day production issues.

You should be equally comfortable planning and delivering engineering projects as you are working directly with production teams to implement solutions.

Experience and capability

You will have solid production engineering experience within a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of quality systems. You will be confident using CAD, ideally SolidWorks, and familiar with ERP or MRP systems.

Experience in scientific equipment manufacture would be advantageous but is not essential.

The type of person who will succeed here

We are looking for someone methodical, organised and technically disciplined.

You should communicate clearly, work effectively across teams and take ownership of problems through to resolution. Attention to detail, sound judgement and a structured approach to improvement are essential.

If you value well designed systems, robust processes and high standards of manufacturing, you will fit well at Radleys.
