Shape and lead the next stage of marketing at Radleys

Radleys is seeking a Head of Marketing to provide clear leadership, structure and direction to our marketing function. This is a key role for the business, combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, as we strengthen how marketing supports commercial growth, customer insight and cross-functional collaboration.

You will lead the marketing team, work closely with Sales and Product Management, and help create a more structured, accountable and scalable marketing function. This role is based at our premises in Saffron Walden, Essex.

Our Company

Radleys was founded in 1966 by Bill Radley as a scientific glassblowing business. Nearly 60 years on, we remain a proud British manufacturer, still focused on what we do best, high quality scientific equipment for chemistry.

We design and build precision laboratory systems in house, bringing together chemists, glassblowers and engineers with decades of practical experience. Our equipment is trusted by leading pharmaceutical, biopharma, chemical and academic organisations worldwide, a reputation earned through consistent quality, technical depth and long term thinking.

We intend to build on that foundation. To do so, we need capable, detail focused people who take pride in their work and want to contribute to a business that values quality, expertise and continuous improvement.

The Role

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will take ownership of the marketing function at an important stage in the company’s development. Marketing at Radleys has strong foundations, and this role will help shape the next phase by bringing greater structure, clearer processes and stronger alignment with the wider business.

You will develop and embed practical ways of working across campaign planning, delivery, data management and performance tracking. A key part of the role will be improving the visibility and quality of marketing data, strengthening CRM usage, and helping the business better understand marketing contribution to pipeline and commercial performance.

You will work closely with Sales and Product Management to move from high-level alignment to a more operational partnership. This will include improving planning, communication, ownership and accountability across teams.

The role also includes leading and developing the marketing team. You will review roles, responsibilities and capability, helping to create a structure that supports future growth. The team includes marketing, content, design, brand, events, business development and marketing support capability.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will need to be comfortable setting direction, influencing senior stakeholders and getting into the detail to make change happen.

Experience and capability

It is essential that you have experience leading, building or transforming a marketing function. You will have strong experience across marketing operations, campaign planning, CRM, data management and pipeline reporting.

You will be confident working with senior leaders and able to challenge constructively, influence decisions and create clarity where processes are still evolving. Experience working closely with Sales and Product Management is important, as this role will play a central part in strengthening collaboration across those teams.

You will need to be commercially minded, well organised and confident using marketing data to improve decision-making and measure performance. Experience in an SME or growing business environment would be highly beneficial.

You will also have experience managing and developing a team, with the ability to assess capability, clarify responsibilities and support people as the marketing function evolves.

The type of person who will succeed here

We are looking for a practical, structured and commercially focused marketing leader who enjoys improving how things work.

You will be comfortable operating in a business where influence is as important as authority, and where progress requires persistence, pragmatism and strong communication. You will be confident navigating ambiguity, creating structure and helping others understand what needs to happen and why.

The ideal candidate will be strategic but hands-on, collaborative but confident, and able to balance long-term thinking with day-to-day delivery. You will take ownership, bring energy and clarity, and be motivated by the opportunity to make a visible impact on the future of marketing at Radleys.

As the role is based at our premises in Saffron Walden, you will live within a commutable distance.
