Technical Sales Specialist - Chemistry Equipment

The Territory:

We have one opportunity for a Technical Sales Specialist however we have flexibility within the existing team, so the new team member could cover the East of England or South East of England (includes London).

The Role:

  • Developing and maintaining profitable sales within your territory, to ensure that Radleys exploit the full business potential
  • Managing key accounts, and developing new business, with structured visits to all current and potential customers
  • Demonstrating equipment on customer sites, both on the bench and via trolley shows
    Organising, setting up and attending exhibitions
  • Making technical presentations and running product training sessions for customers
  • Maintaining accurate customer records and prospect list in the company’s ACT Database
  • Supporting our marketing team as necessary with activity related to your territory, e.g. case studies
  • Maintaining market awareness relevant to our market sector and commercial awareness of competitors
  • Working closely with other internal departments such as customer service and technical support
  • Working closely and maintaining relationships with third party suppliers.
  • The role will involve occasional overnight stays
  • The role will be a constantly evolving one, with additional responsibilities added as we continue to expand
  • Reporting to the UK Field Sales Manager 

Experience & Qualifications:

  • BSc (or higher) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Field sales experience in the laboratory industry, ideally in the chemistry market (academic,, pharmaceutical, biotech, agrochemical, government, medical research institutes, or fine chemicals)
  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets
  • Technical and commercial knowledge of the market for products in process and organic chemistry
  • Experience of the capital equipment and/or instrument sales process
  • Experience of working in a chemistry laboratory
  • Fully computer literate with Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving license

  • Dynamic, self-motivated, well organised sales professional with an eye for detail
  • Able to work as a team player as well as take control and make decisions when necessary
  • Flexible individual with a desire to get ‘stuck in’ at all levels is an absolute must
  • Having the stature and confidence to deal with senior level decision makers and purchasing managers
  • Comfortable negotiating high value deals for capital purchases
  • Energetic and enthusiastic to sell commodity items which respond to high levels of activity
  • Maintaining a positive mental attitude at all times.

Remuneration:

  • Salary based on experience
